  25. The other major enhancement revealed at a recent LA TUG meeting is called
  26. something akin to 'split field' rendering, but that's not quite right;
  27. anyway, as I understand it, it will render half of one frame's scanlines and
  28. half of those of the next frame -- looks like hell on the monitor, but is
  29. as smooth as silk when it goes out to tape, apparently.  Much of David
  30. Hopkin's Taming The Wave tutorial tape is rendered with 3.0, and I must
  31. say the animations look quite good, although it's VHS format & the quality
  32. difference likely isn't all that obvious.  And, it seems that most every
  33. LightWave function will now be controlled from the Layout menu; no more
  34. switching out to the menus.

  36. Once the 'secrecy' was breeched by another 3D specialist there,
  37. David got really worked up enthusing over LW 3.0 -- I, too, would stick around.
